Fabulous Faith hosts Scarborough Afro-Carribbean Festival - August 23rd and 24th 2014

Fabulous Faith is thrilled to have the opportunity to MC the 3rd Annual Scarborough Afro-Caribbean Festival!

Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) in partnership with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) are proud to present the 3rd Annual 2014 Scarborough Afro-Caribbean Festival. The festival will be held on Saturday August 23rd and Sunday August 24th, 2014 between 12PM-8PM on both days, inside the Albert Campbell Square, located in the Scarborough Civic Centre (150 Borough Drive Scarborough). It is a FREE event, open to all members of our community and the general public.

The Festival is a unique event, “Celebrating our Diversity”, while bridging the cultural gaps. It offers a platform to educate and entertain festival attendees as well as provides an economic development opportunity for independent vendors and artists to engage in self-sufficiency. This is in line with Heritage Skills development Centre’s mission to promote the health, social, cultural and economic self-sufficiency of new immigrants, at-risk and marginalized groups in the greater Toronto Area (GTA). It is also a great opportunity to showcase our diversity by celebrating the arts, culture, cuisine and heritage of the African and Caribbean communities, as well as promote local businesses while providing exposure to new and emerging artists.

According to Ms. Charity Lebeanya, The Executive Director of HSDC, the festival will celebrate our culture, bridge community gaps and help to portray a positive image of Scarborough. The event will feature various activities that will help strengthen, promote and increase awareness of the African and Caribbean cultures including its music, fashion, food, arts, crafts and lifestyle. The aim is to bring residents of Scarborough and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) together.

There will be performances and entertainment by Juno Award Winning Artist: Adam Solomon, Fojeba and the Sunshine Band, Ijo Vudu, ICU group, Carnival Spice, Blandine Kaniki, Focus group, Afro-Caribbean Dancers, many other talented artists, a Dancing Competition with prize give aways and so much more!

HSDC is a grassroots non-profit organization, established in 1993 with a mission to promote the social, cultural, and economic self-sufficiency and well-being of new immigrant families and at-risk youth, so that they and their families can enjoy and contribute to the opportunities that Canada offers.
